“I entered the trade mark profession by chance after completing a law degree. While working as a temp, I was given the opportunity to work in the trade mark department of a large law practice which got my foot in the door. After that, I spent five years working for a well-established firm of patent and trade mark attorneys gaining more knowledge and experience in trade mark law and practice. I have since gone on to work in-house for a large pharmaceutical company before settling back at a traditional patent and trade mark firm.

I enjoy working as part of a friendly team and the role can present some interesting challenges. The role of a trade mark administrator is very focused on deadlines so I have to maintain a very strong eye for detail and be able to prioritise a busy workload. The role is busy and there is always more to learn, presenting opportunities to progress in this niche field within the law.”
