A trade mark is whatever makes a brand recognisable – a name or slogan, perhaps, or even a particular colour. The owner can stop other people from selling counterfeit products, misleading customers and “cashing in on” their hard-earned reputation. An R in a circle after a trade mark means it’s been officially registered, which gives its owner stronger rights.
