I’m a UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and was born and raised in Zimbabwe. My path to becoming a trade mark attorney was a bit unconventional. I started out in advertising and moved to the US for studies and while there, I worked as a paralegal with PepsiCo’s trade mark team in Dallas, where I discovered my passion for trade marks. I moved to the UK and worked in private practice firms where I qualified as a trade mark attorney. In the midst of all that I also took a career break to raise my children and pursue a lifelong dream of running an events company, but now I am back in the IP world.
I help brands protect their identities and navigate the tricky world of trade marks. I work with clients from all over the globe, including tech start-ups, fashion brands, and food and drink companies.
What I love most about my job is that it’s never boring. Every day brings something new, whether it’s a fresh challenge or a chance to learn about the latest trends in technology and consumer behaviour. It’s super rewarding to see my clients’ brands grow and succeed, knowing that I played a part in their journey. Plus, being involved with IP Inclusive and leading the Careers in Ideas mentoring scheme lets me give back to the community and help make the IP professions more diverse and inclusive.
Now, I’m committed to creating opportunities for under-represented groups in the field through my work with The Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) and IP Inclusive. Mentoring and advocacy are close to my heart, and I hope to inspire the next generation of IP professionals to keep pushing the boundaries and making a difference.
