IP Insight Event
What?
Join Marks & Clerk in Manchester to learn what it’s really like to work in the intellectual property sector. You may be interested in working as a patent attorney, trade mark attorney or in a support function role such as a paralegal, or even in a role in HR, IT or finance etc.
The insight event will include presentations where you will learn about:
- The IP industry
- An overview of roles such as patent/trade mark attorneys and associated support roles
- What is a patent and a trade mark?
- The typical recruitment process in IP and the skills IP firms look for in applications
You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and network with partners, attorneys, support staff and HR.
Who?
Students interested in patents need to be studying a STEM degree. Trade mark attorneys can take from any degree, but typically, law, English or modern languages. You may have just started university or be near the end of your studies – we welcome all levels. We also welcome people working in industry and considering a career change. The event is for people over the age of 18. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate anyone of school age.

Other info
The dress code is smart casual – we are not expecting people to wear a suit or dress as if they were coming for an interview.
We will refund local travel on production of a receipt up to a value of c.£20. Please do not book travel until your space has been confirmed.
